Lancelot’s ‘Givin It Up’ receives stunning remix showcase [EP Review]

When Anjunadeep unveiled Australian talent Lancelot’s debut stint for the label, we weren’t shy in accusing them of delivering a precedent once thought impossible to an independent house imprint. They seem to have taken the aforementioned as a challenge, letting rip three brand new renditions of the Anthony & Cleopatra collaboration “Givin’ It Up” to extend the wrath of an otherwise seamless original.

As spotlighted by his inaugural Essential Mix last week, MK is not shy of remixes. Of all the assorted pop gems he has turned his hands to over the months, Marc Kinchen breathes minimalistic life into the docile original, going over it with his signature house fundamental to the utmost avail. In the hands of Isaac Tichauer and DJ Nibc, “Givin’ It Up” is given a lick of vintage flare, breaking and burning slowly whilst honouring the mellow keys slowly making their way back into modern house music. Last but by no means least, UK breakouts Panda take things up a notch, representing the cream of the next generation crop on this occasion as their precise grooves and key work perfectly form around the original’s emotive core. All in all, Lancelot inspires some serious club collateral worthy of the spotlight and most certainly holding that upper echelon that Anjunadeep has come to dominate of late.
