Not all that long ago, Chocolate Puma could be found championing the man we now know and love as Laidback Luke. By the time they made their first strike for his Mixmash imprint in 2013 with “2000 People,” the act felt long overdue indeed. Off the heels of their Brobot debut “Afrika,” Rene and Gaston rejoin the trail towards their highly anticipated Janelle Monae remix with a brand new original cut.

“Step Back” is as close to the radio-friendly market as the duo has come in a long time, suffering no blows, however, from the infectious top-line actions of Kriss Kriss along the way. The track rolls with the duo’s irresistible grooves, offering a nod to the low-end favoring strand of house music. There may be a lot of new faces currently cluttering the industry, but this is a match made in heaven for Dutch house music and two of its more consistently striking luminaries.
