Flosstradamus ft. Travis Porter – Drop Top (Original Mix) [Preview]

With the temporary disbanding of TNGHT at the end of 2013, the new year begged for a new trap duo to sit atop the urban electronic game. American 808 snare masterminds Flosstradamus have been contenders for an elite position in the genre for a while, but with recent performances at SXSW and an upcoming primetime slot at the electronic music mecca that is Ultra Music Festival, Curt and Josh have successfully risen to the occasion. Following an initial boom rolling into the new year with the third edition of their critically acclaimed Banned mixtape series and a feature on Shade 45’s Sway In The Morning radio show, the two have seen increasing acceptance into the hip-hop community that initially rejected the electronic sound of the trap genre as a whole. While the Chicago producers are no strangers to working with talented urban vocalists, Floss has linked up with Travis Porter, an urban act that holds high esteem for their tendency to spit energetic bars over club-crafted beats, for their upcoming release on Fool’s Gold. “Drop Top,” the collaboration between the innovative collectives, provides us with the familiar dance-inducing monotonous vocals from Travis Porter, followed by a HDYBYZ-signature bass drop with electrifying synth stabs. The preview, while short, displays the flavor of the track prior to its March 25th release date, and gives a short peek into the continued vocal-collaboration flavor that Flosstradamus have favored as of late.
