Shazam looks to expand vinyl and dance music database with latest Juno partnership

As Miami transforms into a thriving hull of dance music this week, Shazam has taken to WMC to announce their latest innovative partnership in efforts to pull ahead in the competitive pool of music platforms. The music identification application service has formed an exclusive association with Juno, the world’s largest dance music store, and emphasizes the partnership’s goal to expand Shazam’s catalog of dance music tracks, specifically vinyl-only releases.

After seeing the rapid resurgence of vinyl music sales, Shazam’s VP of Music and Content Will Mills explains, “Some of the most important and exciting new music is released on vinyl first before later hitting digital. So this gives Shazam’s 420 million global users an even better experience with the world’s newest and most innovative music, which is sometimes beyond the digital ecosystem.”

As of the published announcement today, Juno’s vast database has already been introduced to Shazam and will continue to grow the pool of recognized dance music track listings each week.
