Deadmau5 logo faces trademark investigation from Disney
Don’t be fooled by the date – as lighthearted as the headline reads, a curious impending case between two favorite mice has surfaced today. Disney has publicly announced plans to investigate into Deadmau5‘s recently filed trademark registration. Dance music fans have long recognized Joel Zimmerman’s cartoon-like mouse caricature as a signature logo of the producer and his brand, but Disney has taken note of the striking similarities between the Mau5’s design and the likeness of their own Mickey head and requested and received a 90 day investigation period to claim and file notice of opposition.
The follow image is Deadmau5’s attempted registration, which, if approved, would cover “electrical and scientific apparatus, vehicles (specifically BMX bikes), paper goods, leather goods, toys and sporting goods, staple foods (like coffee), light beverages and entertainment services.”
