Destroid – Annihilate (Datsik Remix)
Bass music juggernauts Downlink, Excision, and KJ Sawka form the triple threat dubstep collective best known as Destroid, generating some of the hardest, mind-bending sounds out there. Destroid’s mastery of punishing dub breaks and heavy, sharp metalic synths comes through on the super group’s post-apocalyptic selection “Annihilate,” although when matched with the seasoned stylings of Firepower Records front man Datsik, the result is an even more brutally raw rework.
The veteran dubstep producer delivers a dark rendition of “Annihiliate” covered in roaring layers of grumbling bass. Modifying the tempo of the original tune’s throbbing break, Datsik laces the second break with thick drum n’ bass arrangements. With a keen maintenance of multiple layers and sounds, the remix ties together warped transmissions of industrial, robotic mayhem, showcasing Datsik’s unmistakably gritty brand.
