Toronto’s City Council to hear motion to reverse Exhibition Place bans

The battle between electronic music events and Exhibition Place will continue on after Councillors who were against the original ban will be asked to overturn it. The motion will be brought fourth today following the decision to ban all electronic music events was passed in mid-April. A myriad of controversy soon followed, as speculation quickly arose that the ban had little to do with safety, and everything to do with finances and politics.

Ink Entertainment, the company behind The GuvernmentVeld Music Festival, and a plethora of other Toronto nightclubs, had already brought the likes of Steve Angello and Tiësto to the now-banned Direct Energy Centre inside Exhibition Place. While the battle between club-goers and both bylaws and zoning laws has been prevalent in the city of Toronto for years, don’t expect things to cool down anytime soon now that even more money is at stake.
