Amazon launches new Amazon Prime music streaming service

Amazon Prime was launched earlier this week and immediately became one of the largest paid music services in the US when measured by its subscriber base. The service offers over one million songs from thousands of artists, and the tracks included in the service can be mixed with each subscriber’s personal collection. After subscribing, the ability to stream/download music and purchase music directly via the app becomes available. In addition to all the interactive features, Amazon has built hundreds of playlists based on genre, artist, mood, and activity compiled by a team of music editors. Thus far, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group have signed on while Universal Music Group hasn’t signed a deal.
