NERO releases earth-shaking ‘Satsify’ mix

In the always-on state dance music has found itself in, rare is the artist who opts out of the preview-single-promo cycle and rarer still is the artist who goes radio silent for months at a time. Luckily, rare artists are just what the doctor ordered, and Nero has finally delivered a remedy. Six months after announcing they would release an album in 2014, the UK trio broke their social silence right by tweeting out the release date of their first single since The Great Gatsby-scored “Into The Past”; a month after that, they’ve unleashed the Satisfy Mix.

As dark as a Grimm villain and enchanting as a single strobe light, the debut of the trio’s new single “Touch You” is but one of many highlights packed in the hypnotic hour. Weaving in just three of their own originals but pulling their touch through tracks as varied as Daft Punk’s “Alive” and Beaumanoir’s “Insulinia,” the group reminds the dance world just what it means to make a mix. With enough nuance to deserve a 10th and 20th listen and enough exclusives to make a Nero set a summer necessity, we may not have a release date for the promised album, but the Satisfy Mix serves as the best possible substitute.
