Eric Prydz – Liberate (The Remixes)

March saw Eric Prydz return to his renowned Pryda Recordings imprint on immaculate form courtesy of progressive masterpiece “Liberate.” With a landmark summer stretch still unfolding and such further landmarks as his inaugural stint at Madison Square Garden still ahead, a diverse run of European talents pay homage to the Swedish maestro with two striking renditions of the single for the track’s final hurdle. Recent Anjuna champion and melodic club advocate Lane 8 is first to bat for the major label package, who lands off the heels of his remix of “Sticky Fingers” with a reassuringly summer-primed rendition of the Prydz original. Gentle melodic progressions and sweeping grooves carry “Liberate” into a bright and Balearic peak, one that speaks wonders of the maturity his sound has taken over the past couple of years. British kingpins Matrix & Futurebound make with their fluid drum & bass stylings with maximal impact, balancing the original’s uplifting resonance with that high-adrenaline sound that has poised them as market leaders here in 2014. There was little chance of topping Prydz’s meteoric rendition, but both remixes collect to bring a much deserved new shelf life back to a true masterpiece from the Swedish icon. To cap the remixes off, Prydz thew in a surprise of his own in the form of the familiar “We Are Mirage,” a blend of Empire of the Sun’s “We Are The People” and his own “Mirage” that was territory restricted since 2012 for US fans but is available to enjoy now.
