Receiving its official premiere from DJ Benzi on the latest Diplo & Friends show, Tim Gunter‘s remix of Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” promotes a new take on a classic and widely-loved hip-hop tune. Beginning with simple percussion alterations, Tim drives the track down his own path filled with thumping 808s and a horn-inspired synth at the lead. Without overpowering the original track the Austin-based artist wraps bass around disconnected vocal sections and brings a twerk-themed production to a historically smooth song. Tim cuts into a half-time sax section as the remix comes to an end, tying together the project that shows clear development in both the DJ’s extended list of production talents and song writing abilities.
