Beyond birthing the resilient tradition of tossing cakes and crowd rafting, it seems Steve Aoki is now responsible for creating Waka Flocka‘s new EDM-themed persona and forthcoming album, Turn Up God. Nearly a year ago, when still hot off the Aokify America tour as a supporting act, Waka Flocka found inspiration in the Rage the Night Away producer’s style. “Steve Aoki is like the electronic Waka Flocka. He just known for turning up. I feel like he’d do everything I do … It’s amazing, I respect him.”

Originally slated to be titled Flockaveli Psychotics, Waka Flocka’s upcoming EDM album has now received a retitling that might drive electronic fans running the other direction before even pressing play. But for those curious, Waka Flocka’s most recent works with Flosstradamus and Steve Aoki preview what his dabblings in the dance music realm may sound like, but the respective tracks “TTU” and “Rage the Night Away” still remain heavy in rap and hip hop roots. However flamboyant the title, Waka Flocka hints that more familiar and welcomed dance music stars may collaborate for a group remix effort of Dillon Francis’ latest with Diplo, Steve Aoki, The Zombie Kids, Borgore, and Carnage. Waka Flocka’s Turn Up God is scheduled to release this fall with a following rap album releasing this winter.
