Bastille may have spilled their Bad Blood way back in the January of 2013, but one single off the album is aging incredibly well. “Pompeii” not only still dominates pop and rock stations across the nation, but it has found a second home in the tight-knit world of EDM. Audien‘s remix of the tune pushed it onto Main Stages, but new efforts continue to crop up months later, with Slander‘s edit of the remix the latest. Dubbed the “heaven trap” edit, the buzzy LA duo found inspiration in Party Thieves‘ own trap bootleg and credit him on their version though his stems proved too high pitched for their desired use. In the final product, Dan Smith’s iconic vocals remain largely untouched but are forced to share the spotlight with soaring synth breaks and lighthearted hi-hats that do to trap what Seven Lions did to dubstep. The third of what promises to be many chapters in the pair’s Heaven Trap Music series, their “Pompeii” edit is available as a free download now.
