Right after Labor Day, Richie Hawtin will receive a huge honor across the pond at this year’s AIM Independent Music Awards in London. As the latest to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Music award, Hawtin joins the likes of Bjork, Edwyn Collins and Billy Bragg and further earns the distinction as first electronic musician to be honored. The techno pioneer has decades of experience making music, having launched his career in the 80s and remained a key industry player since. And now, as the owner of two successful labels, plus the force behind his own Enter night in Ibiza, he’ll receive the public-nominated award at the fourth annual ceremony on September 2nd.
