Boys Noize and Chilly Gonzales prepare for release of collaborative album as Octave Minds

Super-duos are not a new phenomenon these days, but the latest crossover collaboration to make its debut may be the most interesting yet. Alex Ridha, the German electro and techno juggernaut behind Boys Noize, has teamed up with revered pop producer and performing musician Chilly Gonzales to form Octave Minds. In a similar vein to the recent partnership between Guy Gerber and Puff Daddy, the two have conspired to create an entire album. Set for release on September 15th, the duo have previewed three tracks from the album, with the third coming just over the weekend.

We weren’t sure what to expect from such a momentous collaboration, and thankfully, Octave Minds do not disappoint. Their latest track “Anthem” merges the best of each producer’s abilities. Gonzales’ pop magic emanates from the first few bars, as his gentle piano arp meets a chord progression that is downright triumphant. Ridha’s influence is scattered through, from various 808 hits, to quirky synth work on the bridge. On the whole, we can’t help but feel like the track is everything that is lacking from dance music: authentic emotionality mixed with first-rate musicianship.

Release Date: September 15th
