DA Premiere: A Tribe Called Red offers late night spin on Stars’ ‘From the Night’

A Tribe Called Red has connected with Stars for a spin on the lead selection off the Canadian band’s latest full-length LP. Both crews come together to lend their own distinct stylistic approaches to “From The Night.” Tribe’s spin pairs their respective sound together with Stars, making for a brilliantly melodic imagining that rides the divide between after hours grooves and subtle tribal themes. The tune is also characterized by the flavorful brand of indie-rock and electro-pop hybrid for which both bands have come to be known.

“From the Night” highlights the creative synergies shared between the two bands as A Tribe Called Red piece together a delicate yet danceable rework. Minimalism is evident throughout the tune, though matched with synth-pop appeal, tightly arranged hi-hat rolls, claps, and an infectious vocal hook.

A Tribe Called Red’s remix of “From the Night” ultimately identifies a side of electronic dance music that is better suited in settings other than the dance floor, while also serving as a welcomed departure from some of the more disagreeable trends in electronic music.

Be sure to give Stars’ full length LP No One Is Lost a detailed listen, rounding together a colorful representation of the bands distinguished sound.
