‘It sounds a lot more mature;’ Art Department talk details of new LP
In the middle of the duo’s recently announced world tour, one half of Art Department spoke on a variety of topics surround their impending long player. The followup to 2010’s “The Drawing Board,” which landed on underground powerhouse Crosstown Rebels, the pair’s next full length album will be released on November 18th. A new single will be arriving on Monday alongside Seth Troxler and marks the two names second collaboration together; “it was something we wanted to do to play homage to first album. Seth was a big part of the start of the project by being on the first single “Without You/Vampire Nightclub. That collaboration was pretty exciting at that time and helped get the project off the ground.”
Speaking to Billboard about the unique creative process behind Natural Selection, Jonny White commented on the duo’s collaborative process, “even though we had decided to actually sit there in the studio and produce together side by side [on Natural Selection], once we started writing after the first two days we kind of automatically fell back into how we work — which is on our own and at our own pace.” With new music on the way, upcoming dates in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Miami, Art Department has placed a stranglehold on the Fall.
