Hobbyist builds functioning record player out of LEGO

Little is known about Korean builder Hayarobi (if that’s even his real name), except that he has proven himself a master engineer when it comes to creating working tools – out of LEGO. His most recent creation is ‘The Planet,’ a fully-functioning record player made up of over 2,000 pieces, according to Mixmag. The only part of the record player that isn’t made of plastic bricks is the phono cartridge.

‘The Planet’ was showcased at the 2014 Seoul Brick Pop Art Exhibition last weekend. The Geeky Globe revealed in an article that the creation can play music in two modes – 33 1/3 rpm and 45 rpm. It’s powered by the Power Functions 8883 M-Motor and the Power Functions 8878 battery. To go with the record player, Hayarobi also created a replica of a matching tube amplifier and vintage cases for his speakers.

‘The Planet’ isn’t the first tribute to EDM to be created out of LEGO but it is pretty damn cool and worth watching in action.
