It isn’t often we see this side of Joel Zimmerman.
Back in March of 2012, Deadmau5 uploaded an instrumental version of something he was working on and one fan rose to the challenge of writing lyrics for the unfinished track. That track would later become the 2012 stand out “The Veldt” and the vocalist was a then undiscovered Chris James. First hearing the vocals on a live stream from his studio, Joel’s reaction is honest and genuine — a palpable excitement fills the studio as he grins ear-to-ear. It’s a human moment from one of dance music’s most outspoken artists and serves as the launching pad for Chris James’ career.
