Calvin Harris performs ‘Blame’ and ‘Outside’ at BBC Music Awards

Some of the world’s most renowned DJs have made appearances at award shows, talk shows, newscasts, and many more, to stand behind the decks and play their one hit song. At the BBC Music Awards last night, Calvin Harris shook things up when he performed his album-favorites, “Blame” with John Newman and “Outside” with songstress Ellie Goulding, live behind a grand piano. Calvin Harris took his place on the bench as John Newman began crooning his addictive lyrics to the crowd and simultaneously dancing his way across the stage. When the song’s piano melody swooped in, Calvin Harris tickled the ivory keys in a live performance fashion to showcase his adept musical abilities accompanied by a live orchestra.

After two verses, John Newman briskly ran off stage as Ellie Goulding rose up to sooth the crowd with her glittering vocals to her chart-topping hit with Harris, “Outside.” Again, Harris played the harmonizing leads on the grand piano to add a refreshing live twist to his dance smash. Although Harris’ hybrid show is nothing entirely new, the chart-crushing producer displays for viewers that his musical craftiness can be transferred from the decks to a live experience effortlessly.
