Culprit marks 5 year anniversary with a collection of label favorites

Los Angeles based label Culprit has been celebrating it’s five year anniversary all year long, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Today it released an album of label favorites celebrating its fifth birthday and it’s nothing short of incredible.

Starting off the journey is a funky and space-y original mix by Jamie Jones, Hot Natured and Lee Foss titled “Wintertime.” As you might expect from a trifecta of legends, the tune provides a strong lead for the compilation. You might remember it off the trio’s 2010 Equilibrium EP, which also featured the still popular title track and ‘Keys to the Garage’. Also of note on the compilation is Adriatique‘s “Midnight Walking” which takes listeners to a place of depth and longing with the melancholy ‘Midnight Walking’ from 2013 featuring vocals by Name One.

Matt Tolfrey and Inexec bring the mood back up to the Terrace Room with their percussive groove-heavy collaboration “Hollywood” from their 2010 Even In Hollywood EP, while artists like Bambook and Finnebassen lend the work a more tech house sound. Overall, the compilation is a lovely exploration through deep, tech and indie-dance that’s built to be played for a dance floor. Listen to the full album here.
