Akon unveils ‘Better’ from Eurodance Stadium, the first of his forthcoming five-genre album release

Hip-hop and electronic music has always been a common crossover for artists of both genres (think Diplo or Waka Flocka Flame), but hip-hop’s latest gone-electronic output is throwing us all the way back to 2006. Akon, crooner behind the smash hits “Beautiful,” “Lonely,” and “I Wanna Love You,” has remained quiet since his radio chart-topping era but is now preparing to end his seven-year hiatus to release his five-part album StadiumStadium, his fourth studio album, will be released in five separate genre pieces – Eurodance, Pop, Urban, Island, and World Music – all together making the quintuple album.

On New Year’s day, Akon unveiled five singles, one from each of the five genre categories. Filed under Eurodance is “Better” with Niko the Kid, a song that begins to escalate after a signature Akon interlude, transforming into a dance-ready progressive house piece that lifts and drops with an undeniably EDM, big room feel.

Akon is no stranger to the EDM realm, having already collaborated with David Guetta on their 2009 “Sexy Bitch” as well as his 2010 “Angel.” All five pieces of Stadium are slated to receive a release date sometime later this year.
