Bestival partners with SFX and Embrace; will come to Toronto in June

Bestival founder Robert Gorham, best known as Rob da Bank, announced in August his plans to enter the North American market, stating that the deal was “a long time coming.” Few details were shared pertaining to the Isle of Wight festival’s newest location, though Rob was quick to divulge on his motivation for expansion: money.

The UK-based festival has formed strategic partnerships with SFX Entertainment and Embrace Presents to facilitate its debut in Toronto on June 12 and 13. Set to take place in Lake Ontario, Gorham commented that the space will occupy up to 20,000 people a day. A lineup has not yet been revealed, but the British edition’s lineup featuring The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Flying Lotus, Seth Troxler and Tale of Us may be strong indicators of what’s to come.

Rob da Bank is confident that his entry into North America will not go unnoticed: “No disrespect to the festivals in North America, but a lot of them are very much stages, bars, food tents. This festival will look very different. It will have theatricality, ambition.”
