DA Premiere: Josef Salvat – Hustler (Solomun Remix)
When it comes to deep house, it’s hard to find a more universally loved artist than Solomun. As the head of Diynamic, he’s championed one of the underground’s most lauded labels for nearly ten years. While he’s made his name as both an accomplished tastemaker and a DJ, his productions have taken on a life of their own thanks to crossover remixes of artists like Lana Del Rey and Foals.
Solomun’s latest work continues the pop-savvy trend, taking on London-based artist Josef Salvat and his widely successful hit, “Hustler.” The remix begins with a rickety arp, but slowly picks up into more emotional territory by way of some serious strings and pad work. Halfway through, the vocals take center spotlight as the chorus emerges and the elements coalesce into a natural pinnacle. Solomun’s new remix follows his recent announcement of his third official residency at Pacha Ibiza this summer.
