KSHMR & DallasK share Ableton project file for Beatport #1, ‘Burn’

In fall of 2014, KSHMR and DallasK brought “Burn” to Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings: a collaboration that went on to steal the Beatport #1 spot and subsequently be released on both Spinnin’ and Ultra. Now, in an effort to give back to the production community, they’ve completely open sourced the track on music collaboration platform Splice.

While past artists like Laidback Luke and Henry Fong have preached simplicity upon opening up their sessions, KSHMR and DallasK’s collaboration is about as complex as you can get. A quick glance at the project skeleton of “Burn” reveals nearly 100 different track channels, from plugins like Kontakt and Sylenth1, to an endless supply of audio clips. Through Splice’s unique DNA player, one has the ability to solo each channel and breakdown the layers behind the former Beatport #1 release.

KSHMR said of the collaboration:

“DallasK and I created Burn in a cabin outside of Los Angeles. He sent it to Hardwell who began playing it at festivals, signed it to Revealed and released it on Beatport. Two weeks later it reached #1 overall. This was a first for both Dallas and myself. He’s one of the best producers I’ve known and did an incredible job mixing Burn.”
