Watch This: BINKBEATS brings live music production into the performance realm

Electronic artists take a lot of slack today for being little more than ‘button-pushers,’ but performers like BINKBEATS are here to change that notion. The Dutch musician takes the concept of live production to a whole new level. While he’s gained notoriety for his live covers of artists like Amon Tobin and Flying Lotus — his festival performances are even more engrossing.

At the end of 2014, BINKBEATS performed from Utrecht’s Le Guess Who festival, putting on an inspiring display of live electronic composition. His performance of “Jake’s Journey” shows how he methodically builds a track from scratch, incorporating live synths and sampling his own percussive hits to gratifying effect. Not only is his timing impeccable, but he manages to weave a nearly-nine minute voyage out of the sounds, seducing one’s attention with the integration of each new element.
