Chic and Nile Rodgers release first single from long-awaited new album

After collaborating with everyone from Daft Punk and Pharrell to Mystery Skulls and Tensnake, Nile Rodgers is finally releasing new material with Chic. The album — aptly titled It’s About Time — will be their first since 1992’s Chic-Ism.

The band just released the video for the record’s first single, “I’ll Be There,” directed by fashion photographers Inez and Vinoodh, who recently directed the video for Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney’s “FourFiveSeconds.” In it, supermodel and Taylor Swift-BFF Karlie Kloss dances to old Chic records and watches the original band on Soul Train before heading out to see the current lineup play live at a party.

Information about the background of “I’ll Be There” can be found on Nile Rodgers’s website. The song is out now: you can stream it below, buy it on iTunes, and watch the video on Rodgers’s Facebook page. The album is currently slated for a June release.

Chic will also be live streaming a show from the Roundhouse in London on Yahoo from 5-7 p.m. ET tonight.
