CRSSD takes a stand against rave gear; ‘This is a festival, not a rave’

“Rave attire: No furry boots. No pacifiers. Some kandi is OK, but anything overboard will be turned away. Please use your judgement – this is a festival, not a rave.”

Southern California’s newest festival, CRSSD, will descend on San Diego for its inaugural debut this upcoming weekend. In line with its more refined roster of talent, the festival has updated its rules to include formal bans on rave gear – from LED lights and totems, to furry boots and pasties. In an effort to establish an image unrepresentative of the current EDM culture, CRSSD strongly discourages furry boots, pacifiers, and the sort of overboard outfits many festivalgoers in the US have begun to consider the status quo. With Ultra Music Festival instituting similar anti-Raver rules at this year’s festival, it would appear as if the culture is looking for ways to separate itself from raving and the stigmas it has come to represent.
