Dillon Francis dons DJ Hanzel alter ego for new collaboration with Drezo
Dillon Francis is a man of many personalities. Behind his horn-rimmed Ray Bans, Dillon becomes his ultra-chic deep house German alter ego, DJ Hanzel, bringing fans down winding rabbit holes with a fresh take on tech and deep house. Although DJ Hanzel appearances are few and far between, Dillon has linked up with LA-based up-and-comer Drezo to tap into the deeper side of the spectrum on “Anxiety” for his first official release under his alternative moniker. Though there is yet to be an official release date, the tune was previewed briefly by Dillon and Drezo at Skrillex and Diplo‘s Jack Ü album release party.
In the audio rip, Diplo announces that the tune will be released on Mad Decent subsidiary-imprint, Jeffrees, as Hanzel and Drezo load their collaboration onto the decks. The preview is short and sweet but the tune is a dark, minimal tech-house weapon that snaps and hisses through expansive soundscapes.
Alter egos and genre-testing aside, Dillon Francis has come to a point in his career where taste making should become a part of his appeal. Possibly promoting a new protégé, Dillon is broadening his track record with this yet-to-be-released collaboration alongside Drezo.
