Australia’s Future Music Festival is cancelled beyond 2015

In a post on the festival’s Facebook page, the organizers of Future Music Festival have announced that 2015 will be the last year of the Australian festival. With Drake, The Prodigy, Avicii, Martin Garrix, Robin Schulz, and Gorgon City among many others set for this year’s iteration, the event is certainly going out in style. Organizers stated that it doesn’t make financial sense to continue touring the festival, although the Mushroom Group’s under 18 music event, Good Life, will live on. Experiencing tumultuous tenures in Singapore, grim news around last year’s event, and an expanding Stereosonic brand, Future Music Festival’s decision comes as this year’s version struggles to achieve the desired amount of tickets sold.

“The decision to discontinue Future Music Festival was not made lightly.  A point came though where it simply no longer made sense to continue.  We believe in the festival industry in Australia and plan to announce an exciting new festival concept in the coming months,” stated Mushroom Group Chairman Michael Gudinski.
