In a video posted in anticipation of their upcoming back-to-back headlining set at South West Four, Carl Cox and Loco Dice discussed the thrill of DJing together.
Unlike many dance music titans, Carl and Dice don’t map out their sets in advance. “We never really know what we’re going to do or how we’re going to do it; we never really have a plan or anything,” said Cox. Loco Dice added, “We adapt to the crowd, to the vibe, and it has to click …. We are not planning anything; we don’t even have phone calls because what Carl Cox represents is the true old-school DJ.” The admiration goes both ways: towards the end of the video, Cox admits that he occasionally trainspots to learn the names of songs that Dice drops into their sets.
