DA Premiere: Jeremy Olander – Goliath (Original Mix)

At the outset of 2015, it was evidently clear that Jeremy Olander was in the business of shifting any conceptions of him being a mere Swedish dance protégé. Having announced the launch of his own Lo-fi live concept to kickstart in Stockholm next month, the eclectic Swedish talent is channelling his underground demons for a high calibre debut on microCastle this month.

As one of three original tracks donned to his inaugural EP for the label, his first instalment since the Jackie EP for Pryda Recordings hits a level of club-savvy quality we’ve come to more closely associate with his Dhillon moniker. ‘Goliath’ grooves and peaks with solid beat work and murky melodic progressions, tipping to a far scratchier and ultimately satisfying take than the polished and uplifting sound his earlier landmarks coined.

Olander told Dancing Astronaut: “‘Goliath’ really epitomises what I’m currently into making and fits nicely into my sets, which is kind of a progressive house and techno hybrid with a heavy sawtooth bass. The reactions live have been huge, which I think is in part due to its unpredictability and that the different sections and elements in the track heavily contrast each other. It stays interesting.”

With Spanish club smith Marc Marzenit on hand for an official remix of the lead single, Jeremy Olander’s microCastle debut spells a welcome independent surge from an emerging titan of the progressive world.
