Museum of Modern Electronic Music to open in Frankfurt in 2017

There is no doubt that techno has played an extensive role in electronic music’s prosperity as a genre. Frankfurt-based DJ, producer and club owner Andreas Tomalla, known by his stage name Talla 2XLC, has devised a plan to educate both locals and foreigners on the genre’s history by building a museum. The self-funded Museum of Modern Electronic Music (MOMEM), slated to open its doors in 2017, will provide interactive exhibitions that teach visitors about instruments, technology, clothing, graphic design and the “global movement.” MOMEM will also play host to DJ workshops and other live events on a regular basis.

While the city donated the space to the soon-to-be museum, which will be situated inside Frankfurt’s Children’s Museum, MOMEM has introduced the MOMEM Support Club to raise funds for the project. Benefactors who wish to contribute early on in the museum’s development will help Museum of Modern Electronic Music blossom as the world’s second techno museum, following Exhibit 3000.
