Jahan of Krewella gets political with ‘When the Bullet Hits Home’

Staying true to their emotional voice in dance music, Jahan of Krewella recently shared a short acoustic version of her own commentary on today’s current events. Appropriately titled “When the Bullet Hits Home,” the older of the two Yousaf sisters boldly sings lyrics from a new song that directly addresses the issue of police brutality that has been a heated topic of debate in the US. Her words waste no time in confronting the subject, aided by a montage of clips of protests and police brutality examples that have been shared all across the news.

“Is this the meaning of freedom
Take off the chains and release us
Defenseless, my face pressed to the ground
You’re seconds from pulling the trigger, my life depends on your finger”

My friend JT and I just wrote this together- ‘When the Bullet Hits Home.’ Shout out to our homie Carlos Reyes for capturing the moment
