Samo Sound Boy leads new full-length record with smooth title track ‘Begging Please’
LA mainstay Samo Sound Boy has just put out his first solo record Begging Please, from writing to release on his own homegrown label, Body High. The album’s title track is a long-form bout of futuristic late-night cruising music, playing on cool, distant melodies dropping in the occasional vocal sample for soulful effect. “Begging Please” is a different take on the sounds emanating from Los Angeles’ vast urban sprawl, rounding together mellow soundscapes into a groovy lead number with a distinctly unique production style, not so aligned with most of today’s popular sounds.
With just a couple of synths and a drum machine, Samo puts together his own sophisticated type of break up music, delivering a piece that can invoke a wide range of emotional responses. “Begging Please” is nostaligic, euphoric, sad, funky, deep, and lighthearted all at once; a well-deserved selection for the album’s title track.
