Firefly forced to evacuate on Saturday; festival resumes today with new schedule
In the face of Hurricane Bill, Firefly Music Festival was brought to a halt yesterday evening just before Kings of Leon and Steve Aoki’s scheduled sets, leading to the forced evacuation of 90,000 festival attendees. While the former were not able to re-schedule their performance, Aoki announced on Twitter early this morning that he would make up for lost time today at 2:30pm. The Chainsmokers have also been rescheduled to perform later today. Doors opened at noon.
Despite today’s clearer forecast, the festival grounds are at their poorest condition since Firefly’s 2012 introduction. Workers have brought in mulch, sand and other products to help absorb the ground’s muddiest areas, though festival goers are advised to proceed with caution on the fest’s final day.
