Rob Garza & Neighbour – Your Calling feat. Stee Downes (Original Mix)
Inspired by the sunrise sets they played at last year’s Shambhala Music Festival in British Colombia, Thievery Corporation’s Rob Garza and Neighbour’s recent release, “Your Calling” is five minutes of beautiful, sepia-toned nu-disco. The track runs parallel to tunes like Lovebirds and Stee Downes’ “Want You In My Soul” in terms of vocal styling and that groovy, indie vibe (in fact, both Garza and Neighbour said they discovered a deep shared affinity for the track before producing this one), but “Your Calling” brings a much more ethereal sound. Downes’ voice drifts toward you as though from some hazy beyond, and a strong, well-defined bassline keeps the whole thing grounded and easy to move to.
“Your Calling” is the title track on the duo’s latest EP, which features a remix by DPN, an original titled “Morning Chant,” and a rework by Ray Meng of their original track, “Our Time.”
