ATTLAS – Wastaga (Original Mix)
Mau5trap’s newest signing, ATTLAS, has made it abundantly clear that he’s sitting on a lot of new material. After making his debut on the label back in March with his Siren EP, the Toronto producer quickly followed up with remixes of Rihanna and XYLO and an Evolution mix for Pete Tong.
ATTLAS’s next work is a six-track EP on Mau5trap due for release in August. The first single is “Wastaga:” a thumping low-end number with the kind of cinematic textures embedded throughout that have become a hallmark of his style. The biting lead on top makes it one of his darker tracks to date, yet its aggressive nature is balanced out by serene, melody-driven breakdowns.
With each new release, we get a better sense of ATTLAS’s sonic identity, yet it remains a style increasingly difficult to classify in terms of genres. While “Wastaga” is the only preview of his new EP thus far, we have no doubt it will be just as versatile as his previous efforts for Deadmau5’s imprint.
