When Anjunabeats followers saw BT and Super8 & Tab behind the label’s latest EP a couple months ago, immediate celebration was in order. BT had been on a production sabbatical for a few years, while Super8 & Tab are two of the oldest and most revered artists on Anjunabeats. The collaboration resulted in “Aika:” a superb piece of music, blending the best aspects of the musicians’ artistry.
Though the two tracks are already widely successful among the trance community, it is the norm of labels to showcase well-executed remixes along with the original tracks. One such example is Capa’s remix of “Aika.” Within the first seconds of listening, it becomes clear that he has made the remix entirely his own. Pitching it up to a sharper key and taking away the bite of the original synths, “Aika (Capa Remix)” takes on a more jubilant progressive house ethos with a build-drop-build-drop structure. Trance elements such as prolonged breakdowns, however, and airy synth melodies are left in, making the track a beautiful fusion of the two genres. The remix establishes Capa as someone to follow as he makes his entrance into the Anjuna family.
