Deadmau5 releases an album’s worth of new music for ‘Dota 2’

Deadmau5 sits at the helm of the electronic music movement, but is more public about his disdain for EDM than almost any other producer. Recently, he’s been showing his love for niches outside of the electronic music scene. Earlier this month, for instance, he treated Comic Con attendees in San Diego to a secret after party. Yesterday, he graced the gaming community by subtly releasing a music pack for Dota 2.

The Deadmau5 Dieback Music Pack contains 35 minutes of original production, and stays true to the style and caliber of Joel Zimmerman’s musical catalogue. Songs on the pack range from lush, ambient tracks reminiscent of “Brazil,” to dark electro compositions that capture the essence of last year’s “Avaritia.” The diverse array of musical moods provides a perfect soundtrack to any of the tasks one can undertake in the gameplay of Dota 2.
