June’s “There’s Hope” marked the end of a considerable stint of silence from Fareoh, the New York young-blood who has consistently delivered from outside the industry comfort zone in his four years on the beat. For the emotively charged “Fight For You,” all the preconceptions and gimmicks of electronic dance music’s generation-Y are reassuringly stripped out. Ethan Thompson’s vocal duties cut to the core of a clearly personal and heartfelt record, leaving Fareoh to don a glitchy and overall instrumentally-refined charge that shows an artist aiming for the big rooms and festival crowds without so much as a hint of the familiar party tricks. There are few other artists pouring this much heart and soul into their work right now, giving Fareoh an edge that truly separates him from the crowd en route to his much anticipated album.
