Ghastly’s massive collaboration with breakout talent Mija, “Crank It,” has been blasting through club speakers and DJ sets for most of 2015. What makes his latest release, “Lil Trick,” unique, however, is that it was produced a year ago, before the ‘bass house’ craze had become the latest buzzword. Despite its time stamp, which often equates with irrelevancy in dance music, the track feels as current as if it was produced yesterday.
“Lil Trick” incorporates a heavy bass line, aggressive snare work, and a vocal sample that will stay on loop for days. Judging by the massive production output of both original mixes and remixes we’ve seen in 2015 from Ghastly, there is much more to come.
