We’ll forgive you for having missed Stacy Kidd’s 1995 15213 Loomis EP on Dance Mania, but this four track instalment has stood the test of time in a big way. Increasingly popular house duo Waze & Odyssey have thrown the Chicago legend back into the spotlight this month, giving the EP’s second B-side a quick re-master with aim at the modern palate.
This soulful and funky side of Stacy Kidd’s musical repertoire still rolls blissfully, offering a welcome alternative to the bass favoring tendencies of today’s modern genre talent pool. In Waze & Odyssey’s hands, the track is given a polish that primes it for modern play whilst respecting its original energy, giving an already timeless chunk of house music a second wind that it most definitely deserved. If this is your first time hearing ‘Give It To Me,’ have no shame, just thank the rising house duo for putting it back on the menu for 2015.
