TNGHT – Higher Ground (Brasstracks Remix)
Brasstracks‘ unique and jazzy take on electronic music has built them a reputation among the bass music community. Following their cover of Drake’s “Trophies” last month where they replaced the rapper’s voice with smooth trumpet solos, the duo has selected famous trap artists TNGHT as the next group to receive their signature makeover.
Remixing “Higher Ground” is an ambitious undertaking as the track is TNGHT’s biggest hit, but Brasstracks do a commendable job making it their own. Their version takes a smoother approach than the original at first, adding in lengthened piano samples and taking away the strong bass to make way for the instruments. The resulting drop heightens the intensity as the bass became more pronounced and crackly in nature, while off-beat trumpet accents give the song a vintage, big-band feel.
