AC Slater crushes his OWSLA debut with EP, ‘Take the Night’

2015 has been a good year for AC Slater. He unveiled his newest imprint, Night Bass Records, following the success of his monthly Night Bass party in Los Angeles. The project’s debut release, This is Night Bass Vol 1, showcased the label’s core sound with tracks from artists like Jack Beats and Chris Lorenzo.

With a thriving event series and new label under his belt, it’s apparent that AC Slater is moving onward and upward since the dissolution of Trouble & Bass earlier this year. Next up for the bass afficionado is his OWSLA debut titled Take the Night.

AC Slater teased his four-track EP by dropping “Everyday” and “One Step,” which showcased his talent for creating crisp, yet filthy productions. The remaining tracks, “U Got 2” and “Booty Free (ft. Dell Harris),” round the EP as a hot collection of heavy club-ready features.

“U Got 2” is a fiery track that rides on a beat of thumping bass and rattling bells. The “you got to” vocal sample pumps the track with funk and flavor, resulting in an infectious banger that’s sure to hit the club circuit.

“Booty Free” hosts crooning vocals from rapper Dell Harris atop a retro beat the drops straight into some wonky bass. As the beat wobbles, Harris pays homage to to derrieres across the world, commanding us to “let that booty free,” just as the title suggests.

AC Slater and his Night Bass crew will be taking over Hard’s A Night at Fairplex with their own stage. DESTRUCTO, Wax Motif, and Bot are just some of the names scheduled to join AC Slater at next month’s event.
