Stream ‘Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre’ on Apple Music
After 16 years, hip hop mogul and business entrepreneur Dr. Dre has officially released his third and final solo studio album Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre today. The album serves as the backdrop to the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton which hits movie theaters Friday, August 14 and features collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Jill Scott and more. As the richest man in hip hop, thanks to his sale of Beats to Apple for a reported $3 billion, the mogul will surprisingly not make a dime off streaming royalties and instead will be donating the proceeds to youth programs in his hometown of Compton. In an interview with Zane Lowe, Dre says, “I reached out to the Compton mayor’s office, got in touch with the mayor, Aja Brown, and I’ve decided to donate all of my artist royalties from the sale of this album to help fund a new performing arts and entertainment facility for the kids in Compton.”
