Dubai set to host debut EDM Conference

In recent years, Dubai has built itself to be a major tourism hub. Located on the coast of the United Arab Emirates, one of the richest countries in the world, the coastal city boasts a wide array of luxury hotels, shopping, and of course clubs. Though located in a more conservative part of the world, Western influence as a result of the city’s booming tourism industry has allowed EDM to establish its presence as a relevant part of the city’s nightlife.

Due to this increased attention and appreciation of the music in the area, Blue Leaf, a music consultancy firm, has rolled out its plans for Dubai’s debut music conference, to take place on February 18th and 19th. The conference, modeled after Miami’s Winter Music Conference (WMC), will take place at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai and will feature “electronic music’s leading thinkers, artists, global brands and technology pioneers,” according to Digital Production Middle East. Like the WMC, Dubai’s version will also be accompanied with a music festival occurring both days of the conference.

The director of Blue Leaf, Cory Gibbons, commented, “With the flock of A-list DJs that regularly play the city’s superior clubs and venues, it is no wonder Dubai is steadily making its mark on the global dance music scene. As a leading business and entertainment destination, Dubai presents the perfect location for the region’s first electronic music festival.” The lineup is set to be released sometime in the near future.
