Duke Dumont believes ‘the electronic music album is almost dead,’ if it isn’t already

After deciding on a last-minute change of plans from releasing his debut album, Duke Dumont has reformatted his release in the form of an EP as the erratic buying methods of music fans continue. With just a few weeks left until the release of his Blasé Boys Club EP Part 1, the UK deep pop producer detailed the reasoning behind his sudden shift telling London newspaper Evening Standard: “This is really sad to say as a music lover but the electronic music album is almost dead. For Adele or Katy Perry it’s different but for electronic music the quick fix of the single has made albums almost obsolete.”

While this news may sound redundant, Duke will no longer be debuting a traditional full-length body of work and instead be releasing a 4-track EP – the album’s first single “Ocean Drive” already out with an accompanying music video. The 33-year-old also went on in the all-encompassing interview to discuss his biggest artistic fears, secretive major pop collaborations and not wanting “to be the biggest DJ or record producer in the world. I want to be one of the best.”
