Mike Vale‘s finely tuned tech house boasts a who’s who of label advocates, but the Slovenian talent has spent the majority of 2015 repping upfront originals for Toolroom Records. Bucking the trend with a brand new two-track offering for Great Stuff, ‘Concept of Reality’ kicks back to a perkier side of Vale’s output that still holds its corner on the European front.
A simple concoction of keys stabs, sample work and those a-grade grooves we associate with the Central European beatsmith, there’s something in the clean yet functional approach Vale takes that few else on the beat seam capable of matching. Tech house may still be shy of that ‘renaissance’ feeling that the commercially friendly side of the market continues to suggest, but ‘Concept Of Reality’ is an ode to the club cut done with conviction that many of today’s modern players could take something from.
