Zedd names Scout as the winner of ‘I Want You to Know’ remix competition
Zac Efron got more than a couple things wrong in his recent box-office flop: it’s not easy being a producer, and even harder to earn recognition above the noise floor from already-established and successful artists. Zedd took initiative in helping to boost promising young talent with his Guitar Center Cover Me program, which challenged artists to remix Zedd’s chart-topping collaboration with Selena Gomez, “I Want You To Know.”
The grand prize could very possibly fast-track the trajectory of a career, and includes studio time, a meeting at Interscope Records, features in DJ Mag and on Insomniac’s website, and mentorship from the management at Blood Company. As if that wasn’t enough, the grand prize winner gets a VIP pass at Insomniac’s Nocturnal Wonderland, new gear, and $10,000 in cash. Seattle-based DJ and producer Scout was the lucky recipient of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Zedd had no shortage of complimentary things to say about Scout’s remix, which will be released on Interscope on September 4th.
“I was blown away when I heard the Scout remix! It’s super musical, sonically really interesting, very unique and has everything I’m looking for when I’m looking for a remix to sign! BIG fan of it. In fact, the track impressed me so much that I brought it to my label and I’m excited to announce that it’s going to be released on Interscope!”
Scout has been DJing for thirteen years, working as a sound engineer at Atlantic Records in addition to pursuing his passion for production. It definitely appears to have finally paid off.
